Why Measure Behaviors

Behavior Matters!  How we do our work matters. Achieving our goals is important to deliver excellent service to the citizens of Arizona. But, how we achieve our goals is equally important. Behaviors are measured against the State’s Core Beliefs and Core Values (see below). Demonstrating the state’s CORE BELIEFS and VALUES helps to provide consistent and excellent customer service across the enterprise.

  • Core Beliefs:  Understand Customer Needs / Identify Problems / Improve Processes / Measure Results
  • Core Values:  Do the Right Thing / Commit to Excellence / Care for One Another
  • Leader Expectations:  Models the Arizona Management System in word and action / Sets challenging expectations/goals and measures results / Raises the level of team performance and capability / Recognizes/resolves issues and manages poor performance / Motivates, recognizes and rewards individuals, and the team
