 Call to Action

Leaders take action using the Arizona Management System’s (AMS) PDCA Framework and approach to experimentation and problem solving.

  • Prioritize leadership’s assessment of current agency engagement and identification of gaps you want to target for action to improve engagement
  • Include Engagement Survey discussions in already scheduled 1:1 meetings
  • Coach and develop leaders where necessary to improve desired behaviors
  • Model and encourage the behaviors that increase engagement
  • Recognize success and show appreciation for desired behaviors
  • Leverage champions and influencers at all organizational levels
  • Adopt a change management approach
  • Identify and proactively address resistance (questions/concerns/worries)
  • Monitor and measure progress

Strong AMS leaders are people-centric leaders who embrace and leverage the connection between the successful implementation of the AMS elements and increased employee engagement.

They know that engaged employees feel appreciated and recognized, share their ideas, point out problems, and are coached and empowered to experiment and solve problems. They maintain a focus on the two pillars of AMS:

  1. Respect for people, and
  2. Incremental, continuous improvement of processes (kaizen).

This people-centered focus with a consistent demonstration of the desired AMS leader behaviors builds and sustains an engaged workforce.
